Hans Wright OAM

An archery icon, Hans entered his first nationals in 1950, by 1953 had won eight Junior National Medals. After a spell away he came back in 1960 as a senior. With 31 National titles as a junior and senior he set records in target, field, clout and open flight. He was State Champion, many times, representing Australia 5 times at World Championships. Placing 7th and 4th twice, two World Field Championships taking 2nd place.  First non American to win 1965 USA Nationals, setting a new record. Again in 1967 he came 3rd. Won 50m. 1965 World Championship Gold medal. 1968 30 metre World Record. Australian Olymic Coach twice, World Championship Coach 3 times, coached internationally and was National and State Coach for many years. Hans Wright is a Life Member of Frankston Archery Club, Archery Victoria, Archery Australia. 1975 Victorian Amatuer of the Year, 1979 Order of Australia Medal, 1983 FITA Silver Plaquette and 2000 Australasian Sports Medal.
