Ross Herron

Australia's best known bow maker and flight archer, Ross Herron started at National fitness camps as a youth, later as an apprentice, became involved with George Scott and Boomerang Archery in 1946. 1953 together with some friends, started Greenlees Archery Club. Ross won 33 national titles in his 22 years of competitive shooting. 1954 National in Melbourne he achieved a "Grand Slam" winning flight, clout, target and field. Ross was National Unlimited Flight Champion seven times, Limited Flight Champion nine times, National Field Champion  4 times, Clout 4 times, Target 2 times. He was awarded a bronze plaquette by Archery Australia for services to archery. Ross Herron passed away in December 1966.
