Jim Larven

In 1965 Jim joined Maquarie Field Bowhunters and became an active field archer and bowhunter. In the late 1960's he changed to competitive shooting, entered and coming last in the AAA National Championships. Same event the next year, he became the first NSW and the fifth archer in Australia to shoot a 1200 star. 

Jim shot his first international event in the 1982 World Field Championships in Great Britian. SInce then he has represented Australia in 8 World Championships. As Team manager or Team Coach for 6 World Championships. From finishing last in his first tournamnet, Jim has since won 40 National medals and over 100 Archery NSW Championship medals, plus numerous local tournaments, international medals, over 50 State, National and World Records. An active administrator at club, State Association and National Level. Awarded Life Membership to Archery Society of NSW and Liverpool City Archers. He was Operation and Competition Manager for the Sydney 2000 Olymics and Paralymic Games, FITA International Judge, Director of Shooting and technical delegate to many international events. Jim Larven is an internationally recognised coach and is developing the Archery Australia Coaching programme and coaching manuals. He is currently Archery Australia Cheif Executive, holding that position since 2002.
